SIX vs SCO: Perth Scorchers debutant Chris Sabburg is set to make his debut. Coffs Harbour hosts the first rematch of Sunday’s BBL10 final between the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers. Wanneroo skipper and former Brisbane Heat batter will play his first match for the Scorchers.
Strawbs, 32, last played in the BBL 2921 days ago and was lining up in the T20 Slam in Albany just 11 days ago, where he scored a splendid century off 53 balls. With Colin Munro still unable to play for the Scorchers because of COVID, Sabburg will bat at number six. He replaces Munro with Sabburg.
The international duty of English quick Tymal Mills prevents him from taking part in the tournament, so he’s one of two players included in the team. The other is spinner Peter Hatzoglou.
Jason Behrendorff was due to come back into the side, but he was deemed to be a close COVID contact, so he will have to isolate himself until the injury is fixed.
In place of David Moody and Nick Hobson, who were recovered from COVID just hours before the match, the X-Factor substitutes were David Moody and Nick Hobson.
During the bat flip, Sixers captain Moises Henriques elected to bat first.
Justin Avendano, who starred for Melbourne Stars the previous day, will face the Scorchers twice in three weeks for two different teams.
Scorchers and Sixers face off at 4.15pm in a match between the two-time defending champions.
