Former World Champion Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will become 39 years old on 7 July. India’s chopper-shot famous cricket star, who now stays away from social media for a long time, was praised by fans and fans on social media with some such warm gestures of celebration. Let us tell you Dhoni was born on7 July 1981 in Ranchi. He played junior cricket for Bihar before making it to the senior team. Dhoni made his India debut in a one-day match against Bangladesh. A year later, he played his first Test against Sri Lanka in Chennai.

Dhoni ended the hunt for Team India to find the wicketkeeper for a long time and he became the first choice batsman. In 2007, he led the Men in Blue to victory in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in South Africa. As per the news, He was also named as India’s full-time ODI captain in September 2007. The following year, he replaced Anil Kumble as the Test captain.

Under him, Team India reached the top position in the Test rankings in 2009. Two years later, the home team won the 50-over World Cup after a 28-year wait. In 2013, he captained the Men in Blue to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy.

Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2014 and handed over the charge to Virat Kohli. In 2017, he also relinquished the top job in white-ball cricket. Dhoni is yet to retire from the game but has not played any competitive game for a year yet. Whenever there is a T20 league, he is confirmed to lead the Chennai Super Kings.

MS Dhoni stepped into the collective consciousness with his great abilities before settling into the role of finisher before taking on the captaincy role. After a few misses – and to bolster his chances in the side – he made his first major mark on the international stage in the second ODI of the six-match series in 2005 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Visakhapatnam. Batting first, India lost Sachin Tendulkar early and Dhoni was promoted in that order. 

– As if he was associated with Virender Sehwag. The pair started well, but the hosts lost a few wickets on consecutive balls. Rahul Dravid then joined Dhoni – who by then had caught his eye. The Ranchi-born team played a stormy inning of 148 off 123 balls, thanks to their 15 fours and four sixes. He was voted Man of the Match for his effort, laying down the marker for what was to come.

Within a few months after he did his Yuvraj ton – Dhoni once again gave the world a glimpse of his range and brutal hit when India hosted Sri Lanka in Jaipur. After taking a 2–0 lead in the seven-match series, Dhoni was promoted to No. 3 and did not disappoint. 

Chasing 298, Dhoni was leaving from the beginning. He killed the Lanka attack which included giants like Chaminda Vaas and Muthiah Muralitharan. Dhoni remained not out, scoring 183 runs in 145 balls, hitting 15 fours and 10 sixes as India reached the target on 23 balls with 6 wickets in hand. It maintains the date of the highest score by the wicketkeeper-batsman.

The 2006 Pakistan tour can be termed as a series where Dhoni established his reputation as a finisher. During a one-day match, he played a blistering inning of 76 from 46 balls to put India at the iconic Gadaffi Stadium.

By then Dhoni’s reputation in world cricket had grown considerably, he also led India’s victorious campaign in the opening T20 World Cup. Known for his limited-overs feats, Dhoni has shown that he can easily change his game according to the situation. On the last day, 180/5 with India at the Lords.  Dhoni and Laxman shared an 80-run partnership, but more importantly, they watched the game of 30 overs. After Laxman departed, Dhoni – in the company of the tellers – played 20 overs before the Test due to poor conditions, due to poor lighting, helping India save the game.

India was trailing 0–1 in the seven-match ODI series, and when Dhoni hit 124 off 107 balls in Nagpur, the hosts scored 354/7 in 50 overs. He hit 3 sixes and 9 fours as India eventually won by 99 runs and Dhoni was awarded the Man of the Match award as expected.

Batting first against Sri Lanka, India was bowled out for 81 for three and when Dhoni came to the center, he played the role of a captain to perfection, scoring 107 off 111 balls to help India to 301 runs. . The match won due to an instrumental ton by Tillakaratne Dilshan.

Known for his calm and serene performance, it was one of those rare occasions when an otherwise ice-cool Dhoni showed emotion after a tough challenge to the Chennai Super Kings. Chasing 192 runs for the win, Dhoni came in the middle with a need of 104 runs in the final 10 overs. CSK Skip was batting with a purpose on the day when he scored 54 off 29 balls which included five fours and two sixes. The last 47 runs in the chase came in just 18 balls when Irfan Pathan scored 18 runs in the last over of the match.
